On Thursday, 5 Earth attended the Faith and Belief Forum at West Bromwich Albion. They linked with Elms Farm Primary, a school they had never met before. The sessions began with icebreaker tasks for the children to mix and get to know one another. This was followed by the two schools working collaboratively to create a “Graffiti Respect Wall.”
The children were then given a guided tour of the stadium, which included the manager’s office and even the changing rooms. They were astounded by the size of the stadium and the multitude of rooms it had.
Following the tour they learned all about the first three black footballers to play for WBA. These were called Cyrille Regis, Brendan Batson and Laurie Cunningham. They found out how these players paved the way for a multicultural football league.
The children all mixed well with their new friends from Elms Farm Primary and they have said that they can’t wait to meet them again next year.
