Due to all their hard work so far this year, our Year 4 pupils and staff went on a well-deserved trip to the Birmingham Classic Tennis Tournament. This is a Premier level Women’s tennis tournament held at the Edgbaston Priory Club and is seen as a warm up tournament for Wimbledon. The weather was perfect conditions for both playing and watching tennis and, once we arrived at the venue, everyone was treated to some exciting matches on Courts 1 and 2. Jennifer Brady beat Eugenie Bouchard in a enthrallingly close match and Dalila Jakupovic overcame Bernada Pera.
After seeing the grounds of Edgbaston Priory Club and having lunch in the sunshine, all of the pupils took part in some tennis activities which were delivered by experienced coaches. Each activity was 5 minutes long and focused on a specific tennis skill. There was lots of enthusiasm shown by the pupils as they tried to beat the coaches and some of the teachers!
At the end of the day, Dalila Jakupovic met the children and answered questions, some children were even lucky enough to have a photo with her. A great day enjoyed by all and we hope to return next year!
