The Pupil Premium is an additional source of funding used for ‘closing the gap’ between children who are eligible for free school meals (FSM) and their peers. It is allocated to schools on the basis of the number of children who have been eligible for free school meals at any time in the last six years of their education. We also receive funding for any children on roll who have been ‘looked after’ and children of armed service personnel.
The government allows schools to decide how the Pupil Premium is spent since they are best placed to assess what additional provision should be made for the individual students within their responsibility. Nansen Primary School is committed to ‘closing the gap’ for such disadvantaged/vulnerable students and the Pupil Premium is a vital part of that process. Provision will be made by maximising access to:
- the curriculum
- support and intervention
- enrichment activities to support learning.
